Pinoy Big Brother: Otso – New Twists, New Challenges!
Every Pinoy Big Brother or PBB fanatic always expects that each season could offer them fresh and unique episodes with exciting events. From dramatic scenes to challenging acts to funny moments, Pinoy Big Brother is considered to be one of the most anticipated and successful reality show in the Philippines.
And now, Pinoy Big Brother: Otso is one the most talked about shows in the country.
Pinoy Big Brother: Otso is considered as the 8th main season of the Pinoy Big Brother series in the Philippine aired in ABS-CBN network. Overall, it is the 14th season and the 4th special edition that featured teenagers and adult housemates that take part in the same season.
THE HOSTS
On November 10, 2018, the Pinoy Big Brother: Otso premiered. Toni Gonzaga and Robi Domingo host the reality show. Alex Gonzaga who used to host the All In edition returned to the show and accompanied by Kim Chiu and Melai Cantiveros. Kim Chiu is happened to be the former winner of the first Teen Edition while Melai Cantiveros is the winner of Double Up Edition. Also, Bianca Gonzales returned to the show to reprise her role as a host.
THE AUDITIONS
The auditions for the Pinoy Big Brother: Otso has been part of the audition caravan of ABS-CBN known as Star Hunt: The Grand Kapamilya Auditions. It was started on April 20, 2018, wherein a total of 55,373 auditionees joined the event. Thus, some of the potential housemates were featured in the Start Hunt.
THE SHOW FORMAT
Pinoy Big Brother: Otso is another special season where there are 4 batches of housemates in the following order:
- Teen housemates
- Adult housemates
- Another batch of teen housemates
- Another batch of adult housemates
At the start of each stay of the batch in the PBB house, there are 16 people known as the Star Dreamers. They will complete the batch with 8 housemates. In the case they failed to be selected as regular housemates, they will be sent to the Camp Star Hunt and will wait for a chance to be the official one. When one official housemate goes out or evicted, one Star Dreamer will replace the spot to return the number of housemates to eight. Then, a new Star Dreamer will join the Camp Star Hunt to return the number of Star Dreamer to eight.
THE TWISTS
Every PBB edition has its twists and Pinoy Big Brother: Otso is filled with exciting twists.
- Star Dreamers. Auditionees who stayed in the camp Star Hunt
- Ultim8 Batch. The final batch of official housemates that is composed of four winners from each batch and four wildcard housemates.
- Big Celebr8ty Challenge. Some of the previous celebrities and housemates will visit the house to join the housemates’ tasks.
- Big Jump Challenge. The housemates will participate in different challenges to earn the spot for Big 4.
- 2-in-1 Housemates. Two biologically related housemates will join as one competing housemate.
